Winter Festival celebrated at SMSU
Southwest Minnesota State University will celebrate Winter Festival with a series of campus events Jan. 27-Feb. 1. This year’s theme is “There’s Snow Place Like SMSU.”
Winter Festival, formerly known as Winter Meltdown, is an SMSU tradition, a time for students, faculty and staff to participate in fun activities to help beat the “winter blues.”
The week is culminated by the traditional Hawaiian Night basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 1, against the University of Minnesota-Crookston. The Mustang women play at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7 p.m.
Home Free, the all-male country a cappella group, will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 28, in the R/A Facility. Home Free won NBC’s “The Sing Off” competition on Dec. 23. Tickets are available at Hy-Vee, Marshall Radio and the Student Center Mustang Zone. They can also be purchased online at: www.SMSUtickets.com.
The “Nearly Naked Mile & Not-So-Skinny Dip” clothing donation run will take place on Thursday, Jan. 30.
