GIRLS HOCKEY: Wyffels scores as Tigers fall 4-1

LITCHFIELD – Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato earned a 4-1 victory over Marshall on Saturday.

Kennedy Somerfield led the way for LDC with two goals while they also got goals from Kalley Spreiter and Emma Ridgeway.

Marshall’s lone goal came via Teegan Wyffels with 2:47 left in the first period. Hanna Peterson assisted on the goal.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period before LDC was able to pull away.

Marshall coach Kevin Schroeder felt his team played well despite the loss.

“We knew Litchfield was a good team,” Schroeder said. “That’s the kind of game we wanted right before the playoffs. I thought the girls responded well with a lot of energy. We didn’t get as many shots as we wanted, but it was a good game for the girls to have right before the playoffs.”
