GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: State-ranked Rabbits lose first tilt

WABASSO – The Class A No. 10-ranked Wabasso Rabbits saw their undefeated season go down Tuesday night in a loss to Springfield 60-59.

Wabasso made a run in the second half after trailing by 10 at halftime, but the rally fell just short.

Chelsey Guetter led the Rabbits with 23 points, 16 rebounds and six assists.

TMB 66, Lakeview 57

COTTONWOOD – The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton girls basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Lakeview 66-57 in Camden Conference play on Tuesday night.

Cassie Hook led the Panthers with a 19-point, 19-rebound double-double. Gabbie Gervais added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Sadie Stelter led the Lakers and all scorers with 21 points and six rebounds. Erin Stevens finished with 10 points in the loss.

TMB hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Thursday, while Lakeview hosts Minneota on Friday.

CANBY – The Class A No. 1-ranked Minneota Vikings remained undefeated after defeating the Canby Lancers 71-42 on Tuesday.

Minneota was hot from the start as the Vikings went into halftime leading 42-21.

Taylor Reiss led all scorers with 32 points on 20 shot attempts, and added four rebounds.

Morgan Merritt scored 10 points and added seven rebounds and six assists to lead Canby.

IVANHOE – The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton girls basketball team moved to .500 on the season and in the Camden Conference with a 52-41 win over Lincoln HI in Ivanhoe on Tuesday.

The Knights were led by Kaylie Nielsen who had 12 points. Destinee Strand added nine while Justine Possail scored eight.

Alex DeSmet led the Rebels with 12 points, two assists and three steals. Brandi Barke scored 11 points while Maranda Jerzak pulled down 12 boards.

Both teams will be in action again on Thursday when RTR travels to play Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Lincoln HI hosts Canby in Ivanhoe.
