BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Wabasso hangs on, topples Minneota/Lincoln HI 76-71

WABASSO – The Wabasso boys basketball team outlasted the Minneota Vikings in a 76-71 non-conference win. Tanner Bock inspired the Rabbits with a 27 point, 13 rebound double-double. Neil Eichten scored a team-high 33 points, nine coming from beyond the arc. Beau Taylor and Matt Zeug each contributed eight rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Minneota/Lincoln HI was led by by Jordan Beck and Dylan Tolk with 21 and 18 points, respectively. Tolk knocked-down four three-pointers while Beck had three with the team totaling 11 on the night. Also in double figures for the Vikings was Nathan Pavek with 11 and Austin Buysse with 10.

The Rabbits finish the regular season with a record of 12-12.

SLAYTON – After holding a one-point halftime lead, Mountain Lake Area outscored Murray County Central 36-23 in the second half, earning a 63-49 win in Red Rock Conference boys basketball action Tuesday in Slayton.

With the win, the Wolverines improve to 16-0 in league play and 21-2 overall. Cody Klassen led the team with 19 points, while Andrew Hempeck had 16 and Carter Kirk 10. Kirk also grabbed 12 rebounds in the win.

Logan Kluis led the Rebels with 14 points, while Grant Everson chipped in 12. Everson also collected four steals, while Grant Rohrer contributed seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks in the loss.

WINDOM – Windom Area stretched its 38-32 halftime advantage into a 70-58 non-conference victory over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Tuesday in Windom.

Jacob Gotto recorded 25 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles.

Josh Kirk and Spencer Smith paced the Panthers with 20 points apiece, while Derek Larson chipped in 11. Smith also hauled down a team-high eight rebounds, while Kirk added four assists and three steals.

TMB finishes with a 13-12 regular-season record. The seventh-seeded Panthers will take on No. 2 seed Montevideo in Section 3A playoff action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Montevideo.

MORGAN – Cedar Mountain-Comfrey snuck past Lakeview 60-56 Tuesday night. Jacob Neu was the leading scorer for Lakeview with 22 points to go with 16 from Jonah Dovre and 10 from Bayley Enstad.

Dovre also pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the team while Hoffman and Neu each grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.

Lakeview will take on Canby in the first round of the Section 3A tournament on Saturday.

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Elkton-Lake Benton used a strong performance by Nathan Krog to defeat Great Plains Lutheran 73-51 in non-conference action on Tuesday.

This was the final game of the regular season for the Elks.

Krog led all scorers with 33 points. He also added seven rebounds and four assists in the win.
