TRACY – Services for Bernard Orin Fultz, 87, of Tracy will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. today at the Tracy Area Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial is in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Tracy Area Medical Foundation, Tracy Area Education Foundation, or Tracy Lutheran Church building fund. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014.

Bernard O. Fultz was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Tracy to Homer and Ruth (Addison) Fultz. He graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1944, enlisted in the United States Army Air Force, and served until 1945. On Oct. 20, 1946, Bernie was united in marriage to Eleanor Freeburg of Walnut Grove. The couple spent their lives farming in the Tracy area and raising their family. Bernie’s life was growing a family farm to include his sons and grandsons. As a progressive farmer he was open to looking at innovative and new approaches to enhance farming. He and Eleanor enjoyed attending numerous community events and supporting school activities. Bernie attended and was active in Trinity Lutheran of Walnut Grove and Tracy Lutheran Church. He was involved in Toastmasters, served as clerk of Springdale Township, and was on the Federal Land Bank Board of Redwood Falls. He was also a leader of the Springdale Climber’s 4-H Club, and most recently enjoyed serving with the Tracy Lions.

Bernie is survived by his wife Eleanor; children: Dennis (and Linda) of Tracy, Dean of Tracy, Laura (and Steve) Iverson of Montrose, Colo., Ann (and Kurt) Gramith of Big Lake and Eric (and Sandra) Fultz of Tracy; 14 grandchildren;16 great grandchildren; siblings: Charles (and Clara) Fultz of Hope, AK, Pauline Hemmingsen of Grand Island, Neb., Edna Lessman of Lamberton, and Don (and Eunice) Fultz of Shoreview, and sister-in-law Evelyn (and Russell) Buterbaugh of Tracy.

He is preceded in death by parents Homer and Ruth Fultz, son Kirk, and great-grandson Jack Iverson.
