The rise of same-sex marriages

To the editor:

The Feb. 15 staff column and Feb. 19 letter reacting to it, both seemed to touch on tolerance and the mainstreaming of homosexuality in America. It would indeed seem that the homosexual lobby is on a roll. All of a sudden we now have 17 states legalizing same sex marriage; and in February the U.S. Attorney General told some State attorney generals that they don’t have to defend gay marriage bans if they think they are discriminatory. Activists are working hard to get all state same sex marriage bans declared unconstitutional.

A little history might help explain how activists have had such stunning victories over the last four decades, i.e. striking down sodomy laws, getting the Boy Scouts of America to drop their ban on homosexual membership, getting many Christian denominations to accept active homosexual ministers and bless same sex marriages, etc.

I think one victory that really gave them the green light for accomplishing so much, came in 1973, when the American Psychiatric Association took homosexuality off the official list (DSM-II) of psychiatric disorders after they were being subjected to pressure tactics and intimidation.

Dr. Ronald Bayer says that the first attack by homosexual activists against the APA began in 1970 when the APA held its convention in San Francisco. At that time homosexual activists decided to disrupt the conference by interrupting speakers and shouting down and ridiculing psychiatrists who viewed homosexuality as a mental disorder.

In 1971, homosexual activist Frank Kameny worked with the “Gay Liberation Front” to demonstrate against the APA’s convention. At the 1971 conference, Kameny grabbed the microphone and yelled, “Psychiatry is the enemy incarnate. Psychiatry has waged a relentless war of extermination against us. You may take this as a declaration of war against you.”

Meanwhile, homosexuals forged APA credentials and gained access to exhibit areas in the conference. There they threatened anyone who claimed that homosexuals needed to be cured. After much political pressure, a committee of the APA met behind closed doors in 1973 and voted to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder from the DSM-II. Opponents of this effort were given 15 minutes to protest this change.

A second stage of the “Intimidate and Deceive” strategy seems to have been initiated in 1987 with Kirk & Madsen’s six step plan, “Overhauling of Straight America’ and its 1989 follow up, “After the Ball” – essentially the “bible” of the homosexual movement. Page 153 says: “We mean conversion of the average American’s emotions, mind, and will, through a planned psychological attack, in the form of propaganda fed to the nation via the media.” Among other things, the six steps deal with neutralizing “Joe Sixpack” and demonizing the religious right using the “bracket technique.” In other words, the movement is not based on intellectual argument; only emotional manipulation of the public.

According to PFOX, another group on the receiving end of these intimidation tactics are the ex-homosexuals: “Many ex-gays are afraid to come out of the closet because of the harassment they will receive. The tactics of gay activists are to go after anyone who comes out publicly as ex-gay, force them back into the closet, and then claim that ex-gays don’t exist because there aren’t any out in public.” Apparently, activists want the public to think being homosexual is as innate as being born black.

Things seem to be looking more bleak with each passing year; but even if same sex marriage becomes the law of the land, it will never ever come close to replacing the inherent beauty of a one man, one woman marriage. It will simply be the next Roe v Wade scenario with its endless shame and discontent. Why? Because it goes against Natural Law and the law of nature – nowhere in the animal kingdom do you see same sex unions for the entire life span that refuse to mate with the opposite sex.

Beauty will eventually replace ugliness because the essence of beauty is order. The essence of ugliness is disorder and it needs to be constantly propped up with lies because it has no enduring structure. Time will tell.
