FedEx driver injured in crash with train

GRANITE FALLS – A FedEx delivery truck driver was hospitalized Friday after a crash involving the delivery truck and a BNSF freight train, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call reporting a truck-train collision at a rail crossing on Yellow Medicine County Road 39 at about 2 p.m. Friday. The driver of the FedEx truck, a 46-year-old man, was taken to the Granite Falls hospital and later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, the Sheriff’s Office said. A conductor and an engineer were the only people on the freight train and were uninjured, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Granite Falls Police, Fire and Ambulance, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Minnesota State Patrol all responded at the scene.
