MOUNT VERNON, Mo. – Services for Joseph Lee Williams, III, 76, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., will be at 6 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Memorial donations may be made to the Freedom Christian Church or the Wounded Warriors Project in care of the funeral home.
He died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
He was born April 14, 1937, in Lyon County, to Amelia (Paap) and Joseph Lee Williams, Jr.
Joe attended school in Russell, and served in the United States Navy. He was an ASE Certified diesel mechanic and worked for TA (Travel Centers of America) in Mt. Vernon. Joe previously drove a truck for Willard Block and worked as a mechanic for the Ford dealership in Silver Lake, Ind. He was a member of the Freedom Christian Church in Aurora, Mo.
On Dec. 9, 1987, he married Karen Mieswinkel in Eureka Springs, Ark.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Karen; eight children, Nathan Williams of Mt. Vernon, Brianna Williams, of Clever, Mo, Kevin Williams of Warsaw, Ind., Kimberly Vanderputte of Pierceton, Ind., Karen Strukel of Elkhart, Indiana, Kristopher Williams of Warsaw, Indiana, Krystal Williams of Indiana, Keith Allen Williams of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Donald Williams of Lynd and Bob Williams of Russell; two sisters, Bonnie Fischer of Belview and Ida Kesteloot of Cottonwood; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Strukel, and an infant grandchild.
