YOUTH WRESTLING: Tigers make state
TRACY – Marshall-Lakeview went 3-1 to place third at the Northland Youth Wrestling Association Dual Team Region Wrestling Tournament on Saturday to qualify for the state tournament this weekend in Rochester.
The Tigers, who are 17-2 this season and are the No. 1 seed in the state tournament, received a first-round bye before defeating Minneota 43-27 in the quarterfinal round. Marshall-Lakeview lost to Waseca 40-28 in the semifinals before bouncing back to defeat Adrian 42-20 in a consolation-round dual and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 40-24 in the third-place dual.
The top six teams in the region qualified for the state tournament.
Leading the way for the Tigers were Landon Marthaler, Connor Roth, Spencer Wambeke, Waw Gach and Cole Felcyn, all posting 4-0 records at the region tournament. Marthaler and Wambeke each pinned three opponents.
