PREP BOYS AND GIRLS GOLF: Tigers turn back Eagles for victories
MARSHALL- Both the Marshall boys and girls golf teams secured victories over Windom Monday. The girls team secured a 182-189 victory and the boys team finishe with a 161 compared to a 187 for Windom. On the girls side.
Hanna Peterson and Jessica Blanchard each finished with a 42 to tie for the lowest score on the girls side. Kami Love finished with a 45, Kirsten Webskowski shot a 53, Mallory Griffin finished with a 54 and Gabrielle Pogatchnik rounded out the team score with a 55.
Marshall girls golf coach Nancy Blanchard was proud of her team for getting a victory over a tough opponent.
“This was a big win for us against a team that was supposed to finish ahead of us this season. We will have another tough test against Jackson County Central tomorrow.”
Matt Bennett had the lowest score on the boy side, shooting a 38 on the day.
Jacob Baker wasn’t far behind, as he shot a 39 to go with a 42 from Brent Haukom and a 42 from Jon Wyffels.
It was a cold, blustery day on the course and, eve with the victory, coach Allen Lucht felt the weather hindered the results.
“It was really cold out there,” Lucht said. “It was hard to stay on schedule for the scores we wanted. It made shooting really hard for the guys out there today.”
