Minnesota teacher named as technology ‘champion’

Amanda Jelen, a teacher from Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Marshall, is one of just 11 teachers selected from across the U.S. as a “champion” user of classroom technology.

The sought after award was presented by education tablet solution supplier, LearnPad. However, as a LearnPad champion, Jelen is recognized for her demonstration of excellence in the integration of a broad range of technologies in the school to enhance teaching and learning, not just tablet technology.

“Amanda has worked very effectively to adopt a variety of technologies to encourage students to enjoy their learning experiences and to raise standards in education. Implementing tablet solutions into the learning environment effectively requires specialist knowledge and understanding of the wider application of the technology across the learning environment. Amanda uses the technology on a one to one student basis and is able to demonstrate an outstanding appreciation of connecting a range of technologies to achieve a lucrative classroom experience,” said Chris Klein of LearnPad.

“The LearnPads have really changed my approach of teaching. I am able to reach all different learning styles. They have opened the door to numerous possibilities within my classroom. My students have access to multiple resources right at their fingertips. It is incredible to be able to control the content that my students can see and do on their devices. Every classroom needs a LearnPad,” Jelen said.
