PREP BOYS AND GIRLS GOLF: Tigers topple Arrows
MARSHALL – Marshall picked up golf wins on both the girls and the boys side against Pipestone on Friday. The girls side set a team record with a score of 164 and Pipestone shot a 268 on the girls side.
Jessica Blanchard led the girls with a 36 while Hanna Peterson followed her up with an 37 while Kami Love shot a 44.
Kirsten Webskowski, Sarah Vogl and Gabrielle Pogatchnik followed with a 47, 49 and 65 respectively.
Anneka Bucher and Paige Morgan led Pipestone, each shooting a 63. Brittney Reinert and Chelsey Heiniker both finished with a 71.
Marshall coach Nancy Blanchard was pleased with her team’s performance.
“Jess and Hanna both hit lots of greens today and Kami and Kirsten both played really well also, with just one bad hole,” Blanchard said. “All the girls did a great job. We had a great day to play.”
The Tiger boys defeated Pipestone by 24 strokes. Even though they only played nine holes on Friday, Marshall boys coach Allen Lucht is looking at how his team’s scores will translate to an 18-hole course, with 75 being the target.
“That’s what you need more than anything, especially when you play 18 holes, you have to have six people that have the capability of shooting 75 or under.” Lucht said.
With the depth of his team, Lucht is focusing on finding the right fit heading into subsections.
“The key is to get seven or eight players competing and working, because six of them will go to subsections,” Lucht said.
