PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: TMB overcomes MCC 1-0 in seventh
TRACY – After blasting a triple to right-center with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s Gavin VanMoer then scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Taylor Carlson helped set up the 1-0 win for the Panthers Friday in Milroy, striking out 17 Murray County Central batters in his seven-inning effort on the mound. Carlson only gave up one hit and three walks in what Coach Landon Erickson called an “unbelievable performance.”
Along with VanMoer’s 1-for-3 effort, Derek Larson went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, while Austin Gleis was 1-for-3.
Paul Mesner took the loss on the mound for the Rebels, giving up three hits and one run, walking none and striking out six. Mitchell Woldt earned the lone hit for MCC, a double in the second inning.
TMB (2-3 overall) continues action on Tuesday in Milroy with a double-header against Dawson-Boyd and Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

LAMBERTON – Wabasso used a fast start to defeat Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 9-2 on Friday.
Neil Eichten led off the top of the first with a double, scoring three batters later on a RBI single from Josh Altermatt.
After a double from Beau Taylor, William Klann brought home both Altermatt and Taylor with a single. He scored on a double from Caleb Salfer.
After the Rabbits batted around in the first inning, Eichten led off the second with a single. He later scored on a passed ball.
Two more would score in the second inning for Wabasso, as well as an additional two in the third to complete the Rabbit scoring.
Taylor Bunting led RRC/WWG, going 2-for-3 with a double and a single.

GRANITE FALLS – Defending Class A state champion and current No. 1-ranked BOLD took down Yellow Medicine East 14-0 in five innings Friday in Granite Falls.
Trevor Nissen earned the win on the mound for the Warriors, pitching five innings, striking out four and giving up three hits, no runs and one walk. At the plate, Nissen also contributed a 2-for-3 performance, collecting a triple, a double and four RBI, while Lane Stadther was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs. Austin Weis went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Joel Erickson was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
For YME, Dylan Johnson, Zach Fischer and Joe Sannerud went 1-for-2 at the plate. Sannerud picked up the loss for the Sting on the mound, going one inning and giving up five hits, seven runs (5 earned) and one walk. Blake Lindstrom went four innings and gave up nine hits, seven runs (4 earned) and one walk.

PIPESTONE – It took eight innings, but Lac qui Parle Valley eventually edged Pipestone Area 3-2 in non-conference baseball action Friday in Pipestone.
Brandon Hill picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles (5-3 overall), pitching eight innings, striking out four batters and giving up seven hits, two runs (1 earned) and two walks. At the plate, Dylan Lillejord went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, while Garrett Olson was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Dominic Freese collected the loss on the mound for the Arrows (4-3 overall), going eight innings, striking out seven and giving up two hits, three runs (2 earned) and four walks. Freese and Boyer Bouman went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Trav Thomssen was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Mauricio Sada went 1-for-2 and Trent Kor went 1-for-3.
Minneota/Lincoln HI 8, Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian
EDGERTON – Minneota/Lincoln HI scored twice in the top of the seventh for a come-from-behind non-conference 8-6 win at Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian on Friday.
The Flying Dutchmen had leads of 3-1 and 6-2 before the Vikings scored the final six runs with four tallies in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Alec Engler went 2-for-3 with a single, double, two RBI and three stolen bases to lead Minneota/Lincoln HI (3-3 overall). Austin Buysse hit a pair of singles in three at-bats and drove in a run, while Brock Buysse was 2-for-4 with two singles and a RBI, Jordan Beck went 1-for-4 with a single and two RBI and Alex Guttormsson was 1-for-3 with a single and a RBI.
Peyton Nuy was the winning pitcher after hurling three innings of relief. He gave up three unearned runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Austin Buysse tossed the first four frames, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and walks.
Edgerton/SWMC 18, M/C/L HI 3 (5 innings)
MINNEOTA – Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian stayed undefeated with an 18-3 win over Minneota/Canby/Lincoln HI Friday night. This was on the heels of a 31-0 win for the Vikings over RTR the night before. Tanner Gunnik and Bree Nelson powered the offense for the Flying Dutchmen as they combined for eight RBI and were a combined 6-for-7 from the plate. Nelson had a triple and a double to her record. Becca Kamrath had a two-run home run for the Vikings to total two RBI as she went 1-2 from the plate. Ricki Kallhoff had a triple as she finished 2-for-3 and Jenna Kockelman doubled in the contest.

Morris Area/C-A 10, Yellow Medicine East 9
CHOKIO – The Yellow Medicine East Sting fell 10-9 to Morris on Friday, despite racking up 19 hits and nine runs.
Leading the Sting at the plate was Megan Odegard, who went 4-for-5, with four singles and a RBI.
Marissa Sneller added a double and two runs scored on a 3-for-5 day at the plate. Allison Carmany went 2-for-4, including a triple and two runs scored.
YME scored three runs in the seventh inning to cut the deficit to one run, but a Kelsey Sorenson groundout ended the Sting rally and the game.
Adrian Area 11, RTR 5
ADRIAN – Russell-Tyler-Ruthon suffered a loss at the hands of Adrian area Friday night, falling 11-5. Nicole Enemark and Kaylie Neilsen had the RBI for the Knights while Enemark struggled to contain Adrian Area at the plate. Alecia Lunt finished with a triple and a double for the Dragons while Heidi Nolte, Brooke Grussing and Jodi Bents all doubled in the game as well. The Knights didn’t help themselves as they committed three errors on the night.

SLAYTON – Murray County Central and Westbrook Walnut grove squared off in a Red Rock Conference matchup Thursday night as the Rebels took the boys dual with a 158 while WWG won the girls dual with a score of 217.
