MARSHALL – Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Mae Clausen, 79, of Marshall, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
Betty died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.
Betty Mae (Schafer) Clausen was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Elkton, S.D., to Henry and Leta (Borgwardt) Schafer. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton.
On May 8, 1954, she was united in marriage to Curtis Clausen. The couple moved to Marshall in 1956. They raised their family here and later in life, Betty adopted the catholic faith with Curtis. She worked for BH Electronics in Marshall for 27 years. Betty belonged to the West Side Club and the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to do cross stitching, baking, and cooking wonderful meals. She and Curt enjoyed traveling and some of Betty’s fondest memories involved camping at Lake Shetek.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis, of Marshall; daughter Denise (and John) Petersen of Owatonna, grandchildren Brock and Megan, son Tim of Morgantown, Ky., grandchildren Desirez (great-granddaughter Kenzi), Dillon, brother Lucky (and Sherry), brother-in-law Ronnie (and Marlys), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Douglas, sister Elaine at birth, parents, brother Robert and sister-in-law Florence.
