PREP BASEBALL: Tigers blank Morris Area 5-0
MORRIS – Marshall blanked Morris Area in the battle of the Tigers on Friday night, winning 5-0 behind a great start on the mound from Connor Winkleman. Winkleman threw the first six innings of the game and fanned nine batters while walking just two and allowed five hits. Nate Hoeft pitched the seventh inning and struck out one while walking two and didn’t give up a hit.
The Wind at the ballpark was blowing straight in from centerfield-something that is beneficial to pitchers, but not so much for hitters.
“We had timely hits,” Marshall coach Chace Pollock said. It was a tough day to hit, but our guys did a good job. They also did a great job on the basepaths.”
