Faith in action for May 23
Holy Redeemer Catholic Church
The youth group for Holy Redeemer Catholic Church has developed a local mission program called Boots on the Ground. Through the Boots on the Ground initiative, the youth of Holy Redeemer have committed to providing the Marshall community with 1,000 service hours this year.
So far, this group, led by Christian Johnson, Alissa Thielges, Rachel Trost, Carter Johnson, Ashley Schotzko, Joe Sullivan and Monica Timmerman, has organized projects totaling more than 250 hours. They, along with other high school-aged youth, have planned and participated in four projects to date. They provided the entertainment at Hill Street Place for the Valentine’s Day dinner, organized their first Easter Egg hunt for children of the community, planted gardens at Avera Morningside Heights and assisted at the Kitchen Table Food Shelf on the day of the USPS Food Drive, all while having a great time hanging out with their friends.
Their next event is coming up on June 4. It will start with a service project, move in to a light supper, followed up with some games and end with praise and worship. If you are looking for a way to serve your community, call the Holy Redeemer Faith Formation office at 507-532-3602.
