Vogel named VP for enrollment management and student success

Allan Vogel has been named the vice president for enrollment management and student success at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Vogel is currently the executive director for enrollment management at Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D. He came to Northern in 2005 as director of admissions and was promoted to his current position in 2009. He begins his duties at SMSU on July 1.

Vogel received his bachelor of science degree in special and physical education and a master of science in education – teaching and learning from Northern State University. He taught and coached at the high school level for several years before moving into executive positions in the auto and finance industries.

Vogel will provide leadership in planning, developing, executing and assessing SMSU’s strategic enrollment management plan. The plan will focus on the recruitment of new students in addition to student success and the retention of current students.

The vice president for enrollment management and student success is a cabinet-level position and will oversee Admission, Financial Aid, Registration, Advising, International Student Services and Student Success offices.

“We’re delighted to welcome Allan to Southwest Minnesota State University and Southwest Minnesota,” said SMSU President Dr. Connie J. Gores. “He has deep experience in the field of enrollment management that will help move the university forward in the years ahead.”

Bennett receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Hannah Bennett, daughter of Brett and Donita Bennett of Marshall, has been selected to receive an Achievement Award Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

Her planned major field of study is exercise science.

Oglesby receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Clay Oglesby, son of Russ and Joanne Oglesby of Marshall, has been selected to receive an Achievement Award Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

His planned major field of study is art: graphic design.
