PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Rabbits work magic, top MLA

SACRED HEART – Wabasso fell behind 7-0 after two innings before rallying to beat Mountain Lake area 8-7 Tuesday night. The would-be tying run for MLA was cut down at the plate.

Nick Altermatt led the Rabbits offensively with three RBI while Neil Eichten and Beau Taylor each had two. Taylor’s hit was a two-RBI double. Eichten, like he has been all season, was a menace on the basepaths, stealing four bases.

Eichten also pitched in relief of Nick Altermatt, who was replaced after one inning. He struck out five while walking two and allowed two runs on eight hits.

Alex Gerdes had a solid day offensively for MLA, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI while Nathan Adrian went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Andrew Hirsch took the loss as he went one inning, struck out one and walked none, but gave up the eventual winning run in the bottom of the 6th.

Wabasso eliminated MLA with the loss and will take on the loser of the Springfield Thursday at 7 p.m.

Springfield eliminated Lakeview with a 7-1 victory on Tuesday.

MONTEVIDEO – Canby saw its season come to an end with a 9-4 loss at the hands of MACCRAY Tuesday night. Carter Asche carried the load for MACCRAY going 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Moffenbier also had a solid day offensively with three RBI coming off two hits.

Riley Full, Tanner Kack and Sawyer Kraus each had one RBI for the Lancers with Riley Full, Christian Full, Kraus and Schmitz scoring runs.

MACCRAY jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning before the Lancers tied the game with four runs of their own in the fourth inning. MACCRAY countered with three runs in the fifth inning and two in the seventh to pull away.

Asche picked up the win on the mound, going the distance and striking out seven while walking just two. Kraus took the loss for the Lancers, pitching 3 1/3 innings in relief and allowing five runs on six hits to go with three strikeouts and two walks.

Canby finished the season with a record of 7-8.
