MacArthur named web designer at SMSU

Alex MacArthur has been named the new web designer at Southwest Minnesota State University.

MacArthur is a Marshall native and comes to SMSU from Lifewall, where he was the chief marketing officer and built the company’s online and social media presence.

As the SMSU web designer, MacArthur will develop and implement online strategies that convey the institution’s key messages to various audiences.

He received communication and philosophy degrees from Concordia College, Moorhead, where he was president of the forensics team and managed the team’s website and social media platforms.

“I’m eager to contribute to the university’s web presence,” said MacArthur. “Students today begin their college search online, and I look forward to helping make SMSU’s web site (www.smsu.edu) as informative and easy to navigate as possible.”

Baune receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Tara Baune, the daughter of Scott and Stefanie Baune of Marshall, has been selected to receive an Alliss Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

Her planned major field of study is justice administration.

Roy receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Margaret Roy, the daughter of Bob and Liz Roy of Marshall, has been selected to receive a Mellenthin Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

Her planned major field of study is speech communication.

Baker receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Jessica Baker, the daughter of Scott and Brenda Baker of Marshall, has been selected to receive an Emerging Student Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

Her planned major field of study is elementary education and early childhood special education.

Hennen receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Kelsey Hennen, the daughter of Steve and Melissa Hennen of Minneota, has been selected to receive an Emerging Student Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

Her planned major field of study is psychology.

Tamang receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Rajan Tamang, the son of Dhan Bahadur Tamang of Marshall, has been selected to receive a Foundation Distinguished Student Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

His planned major field of study is hospitality management.

Wegner receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Rene Wegner, the son of Beate and Steffen Wegner of Porter, has been selected to receive a Foundation Distinguished Student Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

His planned major field of study is communication arts and literature/secondary education-speech communication.

Buysse receives SMSU scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Beau Buysse, the son of Jeff and Rhonda Buysse of Ghent, has been selected to receive a Foundation Distinguished Student Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

His planned major field of study is agribusiness management.
