Lower the speed limit on 23

To the editor:

Marshall has experienced three semi-truck/car crashes on Highway 23 in less than three months. Everyone including MnDOT knows that speed kills and is the major contributing factor to traffic accidents so why are our elected officials, transportation committee and MnDOT refusing to lower the speed limit on Highway 23 through Marshall from Lyon County Road 7 to Lyon CR 33 down to 40 mph?

Originally, Highway 23 was designed as a bypass highway, but with the growth in Marshall over the last 15 years on both sides of Highway 23 the speed limit through must be lowered to 40 mph to prevent serious accidents in the future.
