Household auction June 21 to benefit Christ United

A household auction to benefit Christ United Presbyterian Church will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at 112 S. High St. in Marshall. Antiques and collectibles include a walnut desk, barn pulleys with hemp rope, primitive wooden cabinet and an oak wall telephone from the 1900s. Household items include an oak gun rack, book cases, canning jars and small kitchen appliances. Yard and miscellaneous items include a patio table, snowblower, torque wrench, car ramps and an older compound bow.

Sturrock to attend LWML convention

Gwen Sturrock of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall will attend the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Minnesota South District Convention June 20-22, at the Best Western Plus in North Mankato. The convention theme is “ER: Everlasting Rescue.”

The 25th biennial convention begins with Christian Life Day. The Christian Life Day theme is “PING” (Prepare, Inspire, Nourish/Nurture and Go.) There will be Bible study sessions all day.

The official opening of the convention will be the communion worship service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 20.

The Saturday evening banquet will feature entertainment by the Kingery Family singers. On Sunday morning, convention attendees have the option to participate in a pledge walk for missions. Sunday morning will also feature a worship service with the Rev. Gerhard Bode, who is originally from Wood Lake and a past LWML counselor, serving as proclaimer.
