Marshall A’s win Big over Y.A.

YOUNG AMERICA – Marshall defeated the Young America Cardinals 11-1 in six innings in the opening round of the Tigertown Classic Friday night.

The A’s have continued to hit strong all season and a lot of that has come down to preparation.

“Offensively, I think we came ready to play,” Suby said. “We did a good job of staying aggressive at the plate one through nine and getting the job done.”

The A’s got a strong performance on the mound from Steven Wehr, who has been in a groove as of late.

Suby feels that his size and aggressiveness is helping him on the mound.

“He really attacks the strikezone,” Suby said. “He’s been pretty reliable for us all season. He’s a big, strong guy that can really get some speed going.”

The tournament this weekend allows the A’s to play opponents that are closer to the Twin Cities.

Suby feels this is a valuable experience for the team.

“Just coming up here and playing is a valuable experience. They always seem to put on a good tournament and it gives us some good competition,” Suby said.

The A’s will now take on the winner of the Renner, S.D. Monarchs and the Belle Plaine Tigers today at 7 p.m.
