MN All-State Lutheran Choir in Minneota on Sunday

The MN All-State Lutheran Choir will have a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. The concert is free but there will be a free-will offering. Shelby Corbin of Minneota is a member of the choir.

Founded in 1969 by Mark Aamot, the Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir, is currently under the direction of Dr. Thomas D. Rossin. During its 40 plus years, the choir has grown to include more than 1,450 alumni who have shared sacred music and Christian witness in approximately 150 churches throughout the state.

High school students audition for the 40-65-voice choir, and in June, assemble at Mt. Carmel Camp near Alexandria, where singers participate in eight days of rehearsal, Bible study and discussion concerning the meaning of the texts they will be singing on the tour.

North Star Boys’ Choir to perform June 30 in Redwood

The North Star Boys’ Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 301 N. Lincoln in Redwood Falls. The public is invited to come.

Winner of two medals (silver and bronze) in the Champions Competition Division of the World Choir Games 2012, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the North Star Boys’ Choir has proven itself to be a boys’ choir of international standing within its short time of existence.

Peer ministry support group taking registrations

Beginning Experience of Southwest Minnesota, a peer ministry support group for widowed, separated and divorced people, is offering its Level II “Rebuilding” series for 10 weeks beginning July 21 through Sept. 29. The Monday sessions begin at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church on Church and A Street in Marshall. Registration takes place the first two Monday nights starting at 6:30 p.m. Registration is then closed for that session.

The support group is open to people of all denominations. There is a fee of $75 to cover the cost of materials. This series is designed for those who are past the initial pain of losing a partner and are working to put their lives back together. All dialogue is confidential, and facilitators are individuals who have suffered a similar loss.
