Mudcats swept by Sioux Falls West
SIOUX FALLS – Sioux Falls West was able to find the gaps against Marshall Tuesday night as the Mudcats were swept in a doubleheader 11-1 and 10-0.
Marshall manager Mitch Maxwell came away impressed with the way SFW hit the ball.
“They were a really good hitting team,” Maxwell said. “They were able to hit it to both sides of the field and find gaps. We gave away some free bases and couldn’t come up with any big hits ourselves. That will come in time.”

Aaron Polejewski got the start on the mound in game one and pitched 3 2-3 innings.
He struck out one, but walked six and let up ten runs (five earned) on five hits.
Polejewski had let up just two hits and two walks through the first three innings before things came unraveled in the fourth, where SFW put up six of their ten runs.
Despite the statline, Mudcats manager Mitch Maxwell liked what he saw from Polejewski for most his start.
“He struggled in his last outing, but he looked a lot better today until the fourth inning.”
Scott Buss threw 1 2-3 innings and allowed one run on four hits and didn’t record a walk or strikeout.
Tyler Wildes led SFW offensively with three RBI and a double while they also got RBI from Austin Serck (two), Stephen Oswald (two), Chandlar Austin (one), Reece Mimmack (one) and Stuart Baruth (one).
Oswald recorded a triple on the day.
Dylan-Criquet Danielson drove in Nate Hoeft for the only run of the game with a double as he went 3-for-3 from the plate. Hoeft also went 3-for-3 while Derek Rasmussen finished 1-for-2.
Luke Kovaleski was the winning pitcher. He struck out three and walked one in six innings of work.
