Fun Basketball will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from July 7-July 23 at West Side School gym. Boys going into preschool or kindergarten will meet from 9:00am-9:45am. Boys going into grades 1-3 will meet from 10-10:45 a.m. Girls going into preschool through 3rd grade will meet from 11-11:45 a.m. Fee: $20 for residents, $25 for non-residents.
Intermediate Tennis Lessons for players in 4th grade and above will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00am-9:50am or 10-10:50 a.m. from July 7 through July 23 at the Legion Field Tennis Courts. Participants will play singles and/or doubles games to test and improve skills and competitive strategy. Fee: $27 for residents, $33.75 for non-residents.
Gymnastics Session 2 will begin on Monday, July 7, in the Gymnastics Room at the Marshall High School. Tiny Tuckers (ages 3-5) will meet from 8-8:30 a.m. Junior Tumblers (ages 5-12) will meet from 8:35-9:20 a.m. Hot Shots (ages 6-12) will meet from 9:25-10:10 a.m. Tiger Stars (ages 6-12) will meet from 10:15-11 a.m. Bouncing Boys (ages 3-6) will meet from 11:05-11:35 a.m. JV/Advanced (ages 13 and up) will meet from 5:15-6:30 p.m. Tiny Tuckers and Bouncing Boys will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the fee is $24 for residents, $30 for non-residents. Junior Tumblers, Hot Shots, Tiger Stars and JV/Advanced will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and the fee is $36 for residents, $45 for non-residents.
Mini Movements will be Mondays and Wednesdays (July 7-23) in the Park Side Gym. Classes for 3-5 year olds will meet from 5-5:40 p.m. Fee: $35 for residents, $43.75 for non-residents.
Discovering Dance will be Mondays and Wednesdays (July 7-23) in the Park Side Gym. Classes for grades K-3 will meet from 4:-4:45 p.m. Fee: $35 for residents, $43.75 for non-residents.
Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Morning lessons will be July 7-17 (Monday through Thursday) at the Marshall Aquatic Center outdoor pool. Levels 1-6 are offered at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Private swim lessons will be from 11-11:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m. Level 1 lessons will last 30 minutes. Level 2-6 lessons will last 50 minutes. Fee: $35 for residents, $43.75 for non-residents.
Creatures, Critters and Crafts (for ages 6-9 and must have completed kindergarten) will be Monday, July 7 through Thursday, July 10 from 1-2:15 p.m. in the Middle School FACS Room F-3. Kids will learn about critters and explore different artist techniques Fee: $20 for residents, $25 for non-residents.
Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Evening lessons will be July 8-31 (Tuesday and Thursday) at the Marshall Aquatic Center outdoor pool. Level 1 is offered from 5:35-6:05 p.m. Levels 2-4 are offered from 5:35-6:25 p.m. Fee: $35 for residents, $43.75 for non-residents.
The 26th annual Whopper Night will be Wednesday, July 9, at Legion Field. All Junior T-Ball and Junior Baseball participants are selling tickets for Whopper Night. The top selling teams will have the chance to play on Legion Field before the Marshall A’s game. Whoppers, chips and a drink will be served from 5-7:30 p.m.
PeeWee Tennis for grades K-3 will be Thursdays from July 10-24 at Legion Field Tennis Courts from 9-9:50 a.m. or 10-10:50 a.m. This activity stresses fun on the tennis court as a means of introducing the sport to children. Fee: $15 for residents, $18.75 for non-residents.
Golf Lessons will be July 14-18 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) at the Driving Range. Children ages 8-17 will meet from 4-4:50 p.m. or 5-5:50 p.m. Adults will meet from 6-7 p.m. Participants will be instructed on grip, stance, posture, chipping, putting, full swing, etiquette and rules. Fee: $30 for residents, $37.50 for non-residents.
Tot Time (for ages 3-5) will be July 14-24 (Monday through Thursday) at the Marshall Middle School from 9-10:20 a.m. or 10:40 a.m.-noon. Indoor and outdoor activities planned include creative expression, group time, large motor, free choice and more. Fee: $30 for residents, $37.50 for non-residents.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be on display in Marshall from July 10-13 at Independence Park. This traveling memorial, known as the “Wall that Heals,” stands as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War (1959-1975). There is no admission charge, and it will be open to the public 24 hours a day.
25th annual Bike MS Tram is coming to Marshall. The 2014 Bike MS Tram covers about 290 Minnesota miles and will be stopping in Marshall for an overnight stay on Monday, July 14, as part of the week long annual fundraising bike trip across Minnesota.
Planning for a Confident Retirement will be at 6:30 p.m. at Ameriprise Office (408 E. Main St. Building 2, Suite 10) on Tuesday, July 15. This class will cover where retirement income comes from, how much money is needed to retire, how much money should be invested, what age social security should be drawn and more. Fee: $5 per person.
The MCS Kiddie Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17. All participants should line up in the Marshall Independent parking lot at 10:15 a.m. The parade will follow Main Street to 3rd Street. All participants will receive a Schwan’s ice cream treat at the end of the parade.
Crazy Days at the Marshall Aquatic Center will be Thursday, July 17. Free admission all day. The MAC will be open from 1-7:50 p.m.

Twins Trip will be on Wednesday, July 23. The charter bus will leave from Park Side School at 7:30 a.m. and will return at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Twins will be playing the Cleveland Indians at 12:10 p.m. Price includes game ticket and bus fare. Children under age 13 must be accompanied by a paid adult. Register now space is very limited! Fee: $60 per person.
