SMSU golfers honored
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. Southwest Minnesota State University golfers Becky Koepp, Rachel Patnoe and Dana Wagner have been selected to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s (WGCA) All-America Scholar Team for Division II.
The criteria for selection to the All-Scholar Team include a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. It’s the fourth straight year Patnoe has earned the honor, while it’s the first for both Koepp and Wagner.
A senior from Milbank, S.D., Patnoe concluded her career at SMSU with a 3.97 GPA as a biology major. She played in all 16 rounds for the Mustangs during the 2013-14 season, finishing with an 86.6 stroke average. Patnoe closed her career playing in 76 rounds and ranks 13th in program history with an 87.1 career stroke average. She is a two-time CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District honoree and earlier this spring was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Willis R. Kelly Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes the NSIC’s top female student-athlete.
Koepp, a sophomore from Belle Plaine, Minn., has recorded a 4.0 GPA in exercise science. An Academic All-NSIC honoree this spring, she played in all 16 rounds this season and finished with a stroke average of 89.1.
Wagner, a freshman from Tomah, Wis., compiled a GPA of 3.76 in culinology. She played in all 16 rounds this season and finished with a team-best stroke average of 85.5.
