Thursdays on 3rd Street Fair starts today

MARSHALL – The kickoff for the Thursdays on 3rd Street Fair from 4-7 p.m. is today. Each Thursday through Aug. 7, the Street Fair will be held in the 100 block of East Third Street. On Aug. 14, the vendors will set up at the Sounds of Summer venue.

More than 20 vendors have committed to the Street Fair, and most of them plan to be there for all six nights. Vendors include direct sale businesses, handmade items, repurposed wares and local businesses. They will be selling and/or sharing information about their products. More vendors may be there, as applications are still being processed.

Residents can also stop by local businesses on East 3rd Street or downtown on Main Street. MAFAC will be open until 7 p.m., allowing the public to browse and buy from the gift shop, view the exhibit in the gallery and provide a cool-down spot. The Lyon County Museum will also be open until 7 p.m. It welcomes the public to cool down at the ice cream counter and browse the exhibits. BlueGreen Flower Shop will be having kids “Story Time” in the shop each week at 5:30 p.m. and 6 pm.

The Thursdays on 3rd Street Fair Committee is making arrangements with local food vendors so patrons can get a bite to eat or a bag of popcorn while strolling through the Street Fair.

The committee is scheduling something different musically each week through Aug. 7. If you have a special musical talent that you would like to share, contact Ellayne at 507-532-6835.
