Cold Spring tops A’s in extras
COLD SPRING-The A’s second consecutive game with a grand slam was not enough offensive power, as they lost to the Cold Spring Springers 5-4 in ten innings on Friday night.The Springers won on a single by Jack Arnold with two outs remaining in the bottom of the tenth.
A’s first baseman Andrew Kinney hit the only home run of the evening in the top of the seventh inning. He drove in Leo Zerr, Ben Korger, and Jordon Kontz for the A’s only runs of the evening. Kinney finished the evening 3-for-5.
Korger, Kontz and Zerr each had one hit for the A’s. Jarred Carlson and Zach Olson each had one hit as well.
Marshall’s Brandan Alfson pitched five innings and gave up four runs and seven hits while striking out two batters. Jimmy Callahan came in for relief in the sixth inning and did not surrender a run.
Korger got the loss after giving up the winning run in the bottom of the tenth. He went 3 2-3 innings while striking out four.
Cold Spring’s Zach Fermite picked up the win after pitching all ten innings. He struck out ten batters and walked five.
The A’s continue their series at the Nick Bell Classic against Sauk Rapids tonight at 7:30 p.m.

BIRD ISLAND-The Milroy Yankees used strong pitching to propel them to a 3-1 win over the Bird Island Bullfrogs Friday night in the Corn Belt League playoffs.
Josh Hadley struck out six Bullfrog batters in 7 1-3 innings of work to pick up the win on the mound for the Yankees. He allowed just one earned run and two hits. He also walked three Bullfrogs in the game
With the win, the Yankees advance in the playoffs. They will play their next game Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

LAMBERTON-The Lamberton Long Sox beat the Sereals Grizzlies 7-3 on Friday night.
Lamberton’s Donald Strand had a strong night at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs. Jake Wahl also provided the scoring punch for the Long Sox with four RBI, including one home run. Tyler Reiner and Neil Eichten also had two hits apiece.
The Grizzlies got hits from Kyle Fischer, Colin Helget, and Steve Kloeckl.
Tony Shaikoski’s eight strikeouts and eight innings of work were not enough to pick up the win for the Grizzlies. He gave up nine hits and seven runs.
Brady Bierl picked up the win after pitching 7 and 2-3 innings for the Long Sox. Dylan Bunting came in for 1 and 1-3 innings of relief.
Lamberton will play New Ulm for the League Champion on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Lamberton.
