SPENCER, Iowa – Services for Don E. Anderson, 87, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Walnut Grove, will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Living Word Outreach Ministries, 905 10th Ave. SE, Spencer, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m., Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church located at 21953 County Road 7, Walnut Grove. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cemetery following the service. Refreshments will be served after the burial and military honors.
He died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1926, to Harry Anderson and Rowena (Knudson) Anderson, in Westbrook.
He entered the United States Army attaining the rank of Private First Class. During his military deployment and while being shipped overseas for combat duty, the war ended. He was then stationed for occupational duty in Japan.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Spencer, Iowa; daughter, Brady Jo Hare of Spencer; son Tony of Orange City, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
