SUMMER SPOTLIGHT: Murray County Fair

The “Summer Spotlight” section runs weekly and features upcoming festivals going on around the area.

Today: Murray County Fair.

The Murray County Fair returns to Slayton today. The upcoming week is chock full of activities and events from 4-H and apple pie judgings to music, rides and everything in-between.

Cock-a-Doodle Zoo will be back this year for Tuesday and Wednesday with more animals than ever before, and this year’s new event is the American Wrestling Federation.

Historical presentations are continuing this year with Dr. Anita Talsma Gaul’s “World War I: At Home and in the Trenches” and Janet Timmerman’s “the Red Earth.” Magician Tom Anderson will be on the grounds to host three shows on Friday; the Ag Show, Heritage Show, and Balloon Art. Food by Chuck Wagon Cooking Events will be available the entire day on Saturday. The fair will roll to an end with the Antique Tractor and Threshing Show on Sunday at Ernie Engelkes.
