Dennis L. “Denny” Javens

MANKATO – A Celebration of Life for Dennis Leo “Denny” Javens, 64, of Mankato, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northview North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at North Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Dive Club or donor’s choice.

He died accidentally Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, during a dive trip in Cheboygan, Mich.

Denny was born Nov. 5, 1949, to Don and Harriet (Boerboom) Javens in Marshall. On July 1, 1972, Denny was united in marriage to Linda in rural Russell. Denny was a master steam fitter and plumber. He was the Minnesota State University Mankato plumbing and fittings supervisor for over 30 years. Denny had a true passion for the outdoors, especially any activity that included water. He loved fishing, diving, camping, biking, and sailing. Denny was a lifetime member and the current vice president of the Owatonna Dive Club. He was a certified SCUBA dive master and had his captain’s license for sailing. He also loved to experiment with “fruit of the vine.” Most of all, Denny loved spending time with his family. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Denny is survived by his loving wife, Linda of Mankato; son, Dean James (and Monica) Javens of Henderson; daughters, Dawn Jote Serena Elizabeth (and Jason) Laudenbach of St. Augusta and Kari Jean (and Eric) Ziegler of Vernon Center; grandchildren, Kayleigh and Desiree Javens, Maddy Meyer, Todd Ziegler, Braydin Ziegler, and Jared and Anna Laudenbach; brothers, Duane (and Jean) Javens of Mankato and Kenny (and Jody) Javens of Mankato; sister, Darlene (and Wayne) Kruse of Amboy; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
