MARSHALL – Services for Gary Richards, 62, of Marshall, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will take place at a later date at Westerheim Cemetery in Westerheim Township.
Gary died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.
Gary Leonard Richards was born July 10, 1952, in Marshall to Leonard and Dorys (Gislason) Richards. He grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1970. Gary attended Southwest State where he took classes to become a chef. He was a member of the Silver Spur Saddle Club where he often carried the flag, with his sister, at parades. He worked at a variety of jobs, including bartending in Minneota and Taunton; bar manager in Alexandria and Phoenix, Ariz.; head waiter at Boundary Waters in Edina; and various positions at Walmart and Schwan. Gary enjoyed cooking, gardening, horseback riding, reading, games, camping, Halloween and a good argument with anyone who would take him on.
Survivors include his sisters Vonnie (and Bob) Sussner, Kathy (and Robert) Gorecki and Cyndy (and Tom) Benedict; niece and nephews, Jason (and Cherie) Sussner, Ryan Sussner, Heather LeGrand, Rustin Gorecki, Eric (Amrita) Uschold and Dan (and Jessica) Uschold; great-nieces and nephews, Iain Sussner, Lexy, Delatheon and Jayda LeGrand, Lenmona, Akasha, and Arlow Gorecki, and Ivy Uschold; aunts Carol (and Bud) Burneice and Louise Gislason; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
