YME picks up two wins

LUVERNE- Yellow Medicine East picked up two wins to start its tennis season today, defeating Pipestone 7-0 and Luverne 5-2.

In its 7-0 win over Pipestone, Danielle Clarke picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Abby Steffan while Britanna Raddatz earned a win in the No. 2 singles spot with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kirsten Houg.

Anne Clarke defeated Lauren Lapthom 2-6, 6-1 (10-4) and Sandy Bartels rounded out the singles action with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Hannah Berg.

In doubles play, Jordan Trotter and Jordan Glad picked up th No.1 win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Tayla Sysavath while Mariah Norell and Steph Bartles beat Tori Vanessen and Maya Bledsoe 7-5, 6-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot.

Sophie Timm and Nikki Musselman helped complete the sweep with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Paige Morgan and Aspen Scheelhaas.

In the match against Pipestone, Danielle Clarke came through with another victory, winning 7-5, 2-6 (10-8) and Raddatz beat out Lexie Severtson 6-0, 6-4 as part of a singles sweep that included a 4-6, 6-2 (11-9) win for Anne Clarke and a 7-5, 7-5 win over Sandy Bartles.

Pipestone picked up its two wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots.

YME will take on Sauk Centre and Park Rapids area tomorrow.
