Prep Volleyball roundup: TMB tops WWG

WESTBROOK – The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers opened the season with a 3-0 sweep at Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Tuesday night.

The second set was the closest of the evening, as TMB only topped WWG by three points. The Panthers won the first set 25-12 and the second set 25-15.

Mariah Olson led the Chargers with five kills. She connected on four of her five serves, with one ace.

Abby Herding led WWG with 22 set assists.

LAMBERTON – Red Rock Central defeated Wabasso 3-1 Tuesday night in volleyball action.

Olivia Bittner led the Falcons with three service aces, connecting on 16-of-18 serves. Rachel Kedl added two aces on a 17-for-19 night serving.

Gina Goblirsch connected on only 7-of-17 aces, but led Wabasso with two aces. Jamie Goblirsch connected on all 15 of her serves.

Kedl led RRC with 11 kills. The Falcons got six kills each from Bittner, Ramsey Piotter and Erika Rigotzke.

Morgan Frank led the Rabbits with 13 kills. Wabasso also got 10 kills from Gina Goblirsch.

Mikaela Smith recorded 29 set assists to lead Red Rock Central.

The Falcons return to action Thursday night with a home match against Springfield. Wabasso will host Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on September 4th.

Central Minnesota Christian topped Yellow Medicine East 3-1 Tuesday night. Chyanne Sand had a strong offensive performance, tallying 16 kills to go with 15 from Jordan Hinz, eight from Maggie Scheffler, seven from Makayla Dyrdahl and five from Paige Steffen.

Sand had a team-high four blocks on the night to go with two from Dyrhdahl and one from Hinz.

Kalli Knudson had 11 set assists and was good on 54 of 56 attempts. Knudson and Madison Hagert each had two serving aces while Knudoson and Marissa Sneller led the digs department with six and five respectively.

Lakeview 2

REDWOOD FALLS – Lakeview dragged the match out to a fifth set, but fell to Redwood Valley Tuesday night.

The deciding set was tied at 12 before Redwood Valley took the final three points to win the set and the match.

Lakeview battled back after trailing 2-0 through the first two sets.

Brooklyn Hartle led the Lakers with eight kills. She also led the team with two aces on 11-for-12 serving.

Sadie Stelter led Lakeview, connecting on 14-of-15 serves.

The Lakers return to action on September 2nd when they travel to Tyler to face Russell-Tyler Ruthton.
